My Frigidaire dishwasher was leaking from the bottom door gasket. I got this replacement part and no more leak. It was super easy to install. Literally just pulled what was left of the existing gasket out of the slot with needlenose pliers and slipped the new one in. Just line up little slot on the right side of the door and push it in place. No need to replace the dishwasher, this was a great $10 fix that took 2 minutes to install.

Water was leaking from the door at a point about 5″ in from the right side. Seemed like the bottom gasket was all that would be needed (we passed on the whole door gasket for now).We looked at everything. We wondered about the notch in the middle which our 7 year old part didn’t have. Someone somewhere explained that the notch lets water that gets trapped flow back into the tub and that seems possible. It did come coiled up, though not as tightly as some have said. There are no instructions (there are youtube videos out there) but the seller page on Amazon said to do various things and we did one of them: put it in a large tub of hot water until it lays flat. In about an hour it was pretty flat with some vague kinks but nothing that looked untoward. There is a notch on the right side facing the unit. We suggest getting a mirror and looking backwards on the door and you’ll see a tiny tab. We took a pencil and marked the gasket on the plastic up from the notch so that we could eyeball where the strip should be. Make sure to get the notch over the tab. If properly placed it doesn’t go ALL the way back, the flange like material is poking out. The middle notch is completely exposed and there is about 1/8″ of plastic behind it that is poking out, at least on ours. BTW, don’t just put it in and start a cycle. We found that we didn’t have it inserted properly (though we’re not sure exactly why) and when we closed the door and opened it the whole strip had fallen almost completely out. It took a few tries to get it right. One person somewhere insisted that you take the door off and clean out any crud. Easy, they say, just about 6 screws. Well there is some electrical in there and on our unit some of the screws were standard and some were specialty ‘torx’ style. You might need something you don’t have. We just took a bunch of q-tips and got as much crud out as we could. Using our mirror we didn’t see much, if any, left.So far, so good. No leaks after a few cycles. Some places are selling what is probably exactly the same thing for 3 times as much. Ours was $12.12 (including tax). The gasket package said “Repairwares” and it was sold by “Better Surplus” and was fulfilled by Amazon. How long will it last? Way too soon to tell, but it was cheap enough to take a shot.Hope this helps the next somewhat clueless (like us) do-it-yourself-er.

I was a little worried that it would break or wear out from my repeated attempts… looked so simple on YouTube and I didn’t see any other groove that I could have accidentally put it in the wrong slot so I was pretty frustrated when it didn’t go in firmly. I almost gave up but I’m glad I gave it one more try because I could tell right away that this was it, it went in firmly and stayed and now my dishwasher isn’t leaking anymore.

I’ve watched some videos on these and from what I’ve seen and read they are very good quality and are very durable. Gearwrench makes good quality tools I wouldn’t be afraid to buy anything they make.

I typically buy Stanley Proto for my sockets but these looked nicer and they are made in Taiwan which typically means higher quality. Nice detail with the knurled face and finish appears good quality.
