I wore this wonderful fragrance for many years. This smells like a nasty men’s cologne heavy with alcohol. Fortunately it evaporates in about an hour. Not even close to the original fragrance I love so much. As a matter of fact, I was wearing this nasty stuff when my hubby got home from work and asked if his step-dad had visited because it smelled like his nasty after shave. Wasted money on this and I threw it in the trash. Not worth the hassle of returning. LESSON LEARNED.

I ordered Cabochard Eau de Parfum. The box says “Eau de Parfum”— BUT, the bottle inside is Eau de Toilette! NOT THE SAME THING! BUYER BEWARE!

It has a unique fragrance like no other. I do not know whether this is authentic or not but it smells just as I remember it. It last a long time and a little is better than too much. I believe this should be a Unisex perfume because it is not flowery.

If you love perfumes that smell like mosses, woody amber, decaying leaves on a forest floor, leather, and conifers, which I do, you will love this perfume. It’s a ridiculous bargain for such a vintage-type perfume that lasts 8+ hours and radiates to arm’s length. Plus, the bottle is just beautiful – heavy, with the lovely bow at the neck. It’s about as far away as one can get from the caramel, cotton candy, dryer sheet scents so popular now – you will definitely not smell like everyone else if you wear this, which is all the more reason to love it.

For years I’ve worn another Scent by the House of Gres, “Cabotine” but I wear that Spring/Summer Season for weekend “casual wear” around the House and alternate it with my expensive Fragrances. I was searching around for a bit heavier scent for the Fall to use in a similar fashion as the “Cabotine” (casual weekend wear around the House) and based on the descriptions of “Cabochard”, decided to give it a try. It was so inexpensive I didn’t feel it was a Scent I had to try on before purchasing so I ordered.When I opened the box I thought the bottle quite nice – heavy glass comfortable in the hand. Clean & simple appearance. However, when I gave it my first try, I waited until after the dry-down before I put my Nose to wrist but when I did found it extremely unappealing. I waited an hour or so and gave it another try hoping that my Nose was wrong the first try and that a light layering might enhance (or change) the scent. Nope.Personally, I thought this scent was one of the WORST fragrances I have ever put my Nose to! I will forgo long descriptive narratives but the bottom line with this particular fragrance was I thought it had the smell of the bottom of an ashtray! While some of the Reviews mentioned tobacco & even cigar, I have had some Perfumes with those particular Notes in them (Tobacco) so wasn’t put off by the words. I don’t even mind the scent of rich tobacco from a quality Cigar but that is not what I found in CABOCHARD. Extremely Acrid – a sharp chemical smell laden heavy with the scent of OLD ashes. I immediately tossed the bottle and didn’t even try to use it for a Room Freshener as I have with other Perfumes that I don’t prefer on my Skin but still enjoy the overall scent.Perfume is a very personal experience and there are many conditions that influence a persons like or dislike of a fragrance. A persons skin chemistry radically effects the aroma produced as well as other conditional elements where a scent can elicit emotional responses – either positive or negative. So my opinion is really just that, my opinion but I was a bit shocked just how “extremely awful” I thought this scent was – that in and of itself is a very first for me! Perhaps it was a bad batch? Perhaps. But this Fragrance is definitely not for me! But I found this scent SO unappealing I can’t imagine it being good for anyone? but who knows?To each his own as they say and Cabochard is simply not mine!

Old version better for travel also smell don’t stay long on body/ bring the older version back!

It’s almost equestrian. Smells like a fine leather saddle initially but softens out. The first time I wore it, it lasted ALL day and into the night,. Subsequently, it does not seem to last as long, but the scent is more feminine – not sure why.In general it’s still a great value for the money and comes in a gorgeous bottle with a sophisticated black grosgrain ribbon bow. I’d buy it again but as far as gifting goes, it’s not for everyone. Cabotine is a better bet for that. and also a great value in a beautiful bottle.

I like the fragrance it just doesn’t last that long on my skin type. So I spray it on my clothes.
