Purchased some years ago, been looking for it ever since. Thrilled to locate it again.The scent is very distinct and more ‘derived from nature’ than other fragrances. You could probably call it “earthy”. They seem to have changed the formula to increase the duration- to make it last longer- but I haven’t noticed anything negative about this.Not like I care about this one way or the other- my only concern was the liquid inside- but the label could be done better. Maybe my mind is playing tricks on me, but the label I recall from years ago was a heavy paper stock with matte finish and the gold “medallions” were embossed. This label is cheaper, tackier. Looks like something you’d find in a truck stop convenience store, which is kind of unfortunate as this is a very classy product.It truly is gender neutral. A lot of colognes/scents are advertised as unisex, but almost always they trend towards one side or another… a bit too flowery and feminine, or a bit too leathery and manly. 4711 absolutely, positively is a neutral scent. Man or woman, it’s fine (I’m a man, I wear it)Definitely don’t buy this until you’ve smelled it first- the scent isn’t for everyone- but if you already know what this is and like it, then nothing else will do.Love 4711.

Not sure if it’s me or the product, but I’ve been wearing 4711 on and off for over 40 years, and now, though I’m thrilled that I can still find it, I’m not completely convinced this is not a knock-off. Everything looks authentic on the label and the box, but the bottom line is that when I put it on, a lot of what I smell is plain alcohol, and the 4711 scent doesn’t last long at all. I remember when I would wear this before, any steam or humidity or sweat would refresh the scent and I would get the most wonderful, light citrus smell that was as delicious as when I had first put it on, and with the 4711 product I’ve bought the last several times, it’s just not there. Recently I bought the giant bottle, and though that maybe buying in that quantity was the problem because chemistry in a bottle of cologne can change over time, so this time I purposely bought the smaller bottle, and even shortly after I first opened it, I’m noticing it’s just not like it used to be. I’m sad about this; 4711 was always my favorite.

I loved this when I was younger, still reminds me of my mom as she would use it all the time. It is a great scent and was a go to especially when you wanted to feel refreshed, but also if you ever felt a little stress it calms you …..

The scent itself is very green and citrus forward. Definitely smells a lot better after it’s warmed on your skin.I’m a high school history teacher and while researching ideas for teaching Napoleon, I came across this little gem. This is THE cologne, where all other colognes get its name. Napoleon apparently used to brush himself in this stuff and imported crates of it. We used this as a little brain break and to give my students a chance to smell history for a change. We smelt notes of lemon, pine, freshly cut grass, etc. One student said it smelt like spring and I couldn’t agree more!

While I’m no expert with fragrances, I do know the following:Eau de cologne (EDC): contains 2%-4% of oilEau de toilette (EDT): contains 5%-10% oilEau de parfum (EDP): contains 10%-20% oilThis has a tremendous amount of influence on how long a fragrance lasts, along with the ingredients used to create it. Because this is an EDC, it doesn’t last very long and you shouldn’t expect it to. It’s a refresher and something that is meant to be used repeatedly and liberally. If you keep that in mind, you won’t be disappointed.The aroma is a classic one and other reviews contain the notes people notice best. That aside, know the difference between this and an EDT or EDP and you can still enjoy the citrusy freshness 4711 offers. It’s a classic with good reason.

I remember as a kid, that a nun from Germany used to order this every year as a Christmas gift for my dad (my parents did a lot for the hospital where the nuns worked). Dad always looked forward to it, and he would be sure to use it on special “nights out” with my mom – she loved it as well, and she didn’t normally care much for the typical “overpowering” men’s fragrances.So, I took a chance at finding it on Amazon, and…Sure Enough! So, for nostalgia purposes, I ordered it.It’s a nice big bottle too!The scent is exactly as I remember it — light, and only SLIGHTLY “citrusy” — you won’t smell like a lemon or an orange, don’t worry. It’s a clean, light, fresh, and yes — manly smell.

I love 4711 Eau de Cologne, but this purchase at 13.5 fluid ounces seems a bit watered down. I noticed the seal was broken on my new purchase but did not think much about it until I realized the scent was not as strong. I still have some eau de cologne from my previous 10 fluid ounce bottle and it has a stronger scent and a more bracing sensation on the skin than the cologne my new 13.5 oz bottle. Perhaps this wasn’t such a good deal after all.

Very good on your skin, an added bonus is that it doesn’t attract insects to you. I have DE Razor shaved and used it most of my shaving life. Dad used it before me and introduced it to me. just my 2 cents worth. It is some of the best stuff. It doesn’t seem to burn freshly shaved skin either.

As an lgbt+ person I have been a huge fan of Rocky Horror Picture Show since I was in highschool and only recently, while rewatching it again, noticed the 4711 tattoo on Frank n Furter’s thigh and researched it now here I am. I’m extremely picky about scent. Even most men’s cologne feel to feminine to me, but, this is absolutely perfect and a rich history to boot. I almost gave up and learned how to make my own scents and I probably still will, but, I think this is going to be a life long favorite.

The cologne is wonderful, my mother was raised in Bavaria and always used this cologne so it is a very special scent for me. I have not ever seen such a LARGE BOTTLE the scent is wonderful the value is a great bargain and I can freely use every day. My parents grew up in Germany. My dad was from Ludinghausen and my mom was from Ulm. Both of them used this product when growing up. Now I’m using it again since I found it here at Amazon. I even gave my daughter a bottle for Christmas. She said it reminded her of her Oma. Thank you for still making this unisex product. Plus it kinda wakes you up with it’s pleasant flowery smell. It’s like your standing in a meadow on the side of a mountain in southern Germany. I use it everyday for my body and face. When people ask me about it I tell them to look up 4711.

My husband originally found 4711 years ago in Germany and when he came back to the States it was extremely hard to find trust me I had looked everywhere, a friend of mine had seen it in a little German shop we went to now and then but when I was able to get there it was gone and they couldn’t get it back in so I was so happy to find it here to surprise him for our 40th anniversary. He was elated so many memories were brought back to us. The gentle citrus smells open your nose up to the other scents you will experience. So worth the price, a little goes a long way.
