My former stylist recommended KeraCare products so between this and Mizani I don’t use any other brand. What I love about the 1st Lather Shampoo is the fact that it is cheaper than standard shampoo products. The first wash is when you (if you’re like me) break down the layer of oil and hair products that you are using to keep your hair moisturized. I barely get a good lather in with the first wash so it’s good to have a basic product that can cut through the grease. I then follow-up with a second wash using my favorite shampoo product, whether that’s the KeraCare Hydrating Detangling Shampoo or the Mizani True Textures Cleansing Cream Conditioning Curl Wash. When I use those products on my second wash is when I get a nice strong lather and can truly go to work at scrubbing my scalp clean. 1st Lather is a great haircare investment.

Meant as a cleansing shampoo for 1st lather, then I use the moisturizing shampoo. However, may not need as much if you use filtered water through whole house filtration system or faucet filtration system. The water makes a difference.

I’m a long-time user of sulfate-free 1st Lather and took a chance making this purchase. As noted by some of the other reviewers, the consistency, color, and strength of the shampoo were lacking. It did cleanse my hair enough for me to not to return the bottle. I just ordered and received a new bottle from an Alabama-based beauty supply company – this is the 1st Lather I know and love! I’m not sure if the shampoo I ordered through Amazon was part of a bad lot, diluted, or what, but I won’t be ordering it through Amazon again.
