This Matrix detangling solution works quite well. Better than what I was using before and better than I’d expected. I had been using Matrix Biolage Fortetherapie Strengthening conditioner. That has been dropped by Matrix and I liked it a lot though it was so-so in the anti-tangle department.Like most Matrix products this seems pricey but a little goes a long way. You need very little product to get good results even with long hair like mine. I expect this 13.5oz bottle will last a long time using only the amount you really need.All my other conditioners have been very creamy liquids. This is not. It’s almost a paste with about the consistency Vaseline would have is squeezed out of a tube. A little blob (the size of maybe a nickel) and rubbed between my hands to spread it out before applying to my wet hair was just right.In the shower I worked it through my wet hair and combed it out while rinsing. The results were better than I’d hoped and saved me minutes (and gallons of water) I’d otherwise have used fighting tangles!Other things I like about this detangling solution include almost no scent (I hate strong scents in my products!) and that my hair looks nice and is still quite manageable after air dryingIn conclusion I was concerned about Matrix retiring the strengthening conditioner I’d come to like a lot. This detangling solution seems to replace the conditioning of the old stuff just as well plus gives me much quicker and easier comb-out of my hair in the shower. In fact, better than I had expected which earns 5 stars from me.UPDATE Oct 5, 2017:I’m into my 3rd month of use and I’m not quite as excited as I was on the first couple of uses. It worked great then, but hair like so many things varies from wash to wash with respect to tangles. I still have some occasions where I’m fighting stubborn tangles in the shower. This isn’t 100% but it is an improvement over my previous conditioner. Just not as much as I first thought.I still think it’s worth 5 stars and is very good, but isn’t quite the ultimate solution to shampoo tangles I was hoping it might be.

I was at the point where I was ready to cut off all of my waist-length hair because the tangles I dealt with were unbearable and painful. I’ve tried detangling sprays and leave in conditioners, but no matter what I did, it used to take me AN HOUR to brush through my hair after showers (no exaggeration). After buying this (and a special detangling brush), it only takes 10 minutes and it doesn’t hurt at all! This is a holy grail product for sure. 100% recommend.

I have hip length extremely curly hair. Growing it that long requires being extra careful to remove tangles. I’ve tried many, many conditioners and detanglers, and this is simply the best. It rinses clean and is unscented, which I prefer.

Ive been using this product for years. Loved how it took the rats nest tangles from my below shoulder length hair. BUT…this recent order..not only the bottle label colors and design are different…THE INGREDIENTS HAVE CHANGED! SOME HAVE BEEN LEFT OUT. The result is my hair was left with a gummy feeling after rinsing all out and when completely dry…guess what? Rats nest tangles again! I couldn’t figure out why this was happening until I compared the old bottle (the last one I ordered) with this new one! Its different! Now I have to either try and find the stuff in the old bottles or change to another product altogether😠

This detangler is AWESOME!!!! I’m not sure if you’re supposed to use it in tandem WITH conditioner, but I don’t. This has become my conditioner. And I just love it so. I still have to comb knots out of my hair at the end of each day (bc it’s quite long and fine and because this solution isn’t magic sorcery), but it does its job VERY well, and makes detangling those pesky knots in the shower, a freakin breeze!
