I ended up with a 100 gigabit Ethernet switch for my home lab, and have been acquiring optical modules for the switch. This was a great option for top speed on the switch, while I normally downgrade to 40gig for most of my systems (if not 10gig).This was my eighth Opstran module, with other 10gig fiber/copper, as well as 25gig and 40gig fiber, modules working well in my relatively lightweight environment. If you’re using them for production or business critical uses, definitely warm them up and test them thoroughly to avoid late night pager calls (even if you don’t really have a pager). But for my use it’s a great price and a very usable module. Since I don’t really drive 100gig regularly, I’m planning to run a breakout cable on this module to feed some Mellanox 25gig cards.

It works and it works to spec and that’s about all you can say for something like this. If I have any problems going forward I’ll keep the review updated but the price is decent for what you are getting. I’ve seen way more expensive modules. So I’m happy with is. Definitely make sure that it is compatible with your unit.

This looks and feels to be well made from what I can observe so far. I am currently lacking equipment to test further but I see no signs of issues with it at this time. Will update if/when i can get this working.
